I laid on your chest and intertwined my fingers with yours. Our hearts still racing from having just made love. I closed my eyes and smiled, thinking to myself "I could do this forever with you." You kissed the top of my head. I brought my chin to your chest and whispered, “I love you”. You looked down at me and smiled pulling my body on top of yours.
“I love you too.” You responded while reaching in for a kiss. God, I could kiss those lips forever.
“You know what I want?” You asked, gently running your fingers through my hair.
“What's that?” I replied. You took a deep breath as I prepared myself for you to crack a joke and say, ‘a sandwich’.
“I want time to stop. Like right now.” You said this with such sincerity. As though you could actually make time stop.
I half smiled while looking up at you, “Why?”
“Because,” you stopped for a second to grab my hand, rubbing your fingers on my knuckles. “If I could live this for the rest of my life, I’d never get tired of it.” You looked at me and smirked flirtatiously, “You’re it for me.”
“Stoooop.” I blushed and playfully hit you.
“I’m serious. When I’m with you it’s like nothing else matters.”
You sounded so convinced.
“Do you think it’s possible that this was all planned out before we even met?” I lightly touched the fine hairs along your stomach with my fingertips, nervous to look at you while talking about such a topic.
“What like the universe brought us together rather than you and I and chance?” I watched as your eyebrows furrowed.
“Yea," I said, still lightly running my fingertips along your stomach, avoiding eye contact. "Like... do you think that we could’ve been lovers in a past life and our souls just found each other again?”
“You mean like soulmates?” You asked looking down at me with a raised eyebrow.
I hesitated, hoping I didn’t just scare you off mentally by bringing that up. You stood quiet for a minute before responding.
“I never really thought about it in that way. It could be possible...” You stood quiet for a second time and looked up at the ceiling. “I mean if my soul travelled lifetimes to find you and be with you in this moment, then I definitely want to stop time right now and enjoy this with you.”
I looked up with a sense of relief, locking eyes with you almost instantly as I moved closer to your lips. You placed your hand along my jawline and pulled me in slowly.
“I don’t want this moment to end either.” I whispered. “I’ll find you in every lifetime and love you more and more each time.”
"You promise?" You held my hand to your chest.
I smiled, hooking your pinky finger with mine, "I promise. No matter what."
