The Fool In Reverse: A Poem

"You’re not paying attention!" they say.

"You act as though you have no care in the world."

I keep walking towards my indecisions anyway.

I walk ahead with my head up high,

my naivety gets the better of me.

I needed a new beginning and thought it was worth the risk

To walk blindly into the abyss

No future plans just living in the now.

I want something new

And to reach it, I don’t care how.

I walk to the beat of my own drum as the ground crumbles behind me.

There’s no going back

At least not the same way I came.

Like Alice in her wonderland

Who lost her way

curiosity killed the cat.

"I’m still standing!" I yell

Untouchable to say the least.

I pride myself on risky business

and bad decisions

Inhibitions non-existent.

I am the fool in reverse.

Careless and free-willed.

I fear nothing.

This ignorance is bliss.

Background to this piece... I've been on a roller coaster of a spiritual journey for a long time now and for a while I've been turning to Tarot to guide me. I'm no pro at interpreting the cards but I like to think that when I do read cards my intuition takes control. This poem sprang from being called back to shuffling and interpreting cards, as I have not done so in a while. This is just a quick piece I whipped up while trying to remember what each card signified. I hope you enjoyed it!
